Do not accept business checks from individuals
unless you know the check writer and who it was written too as
well. NACHA rules forbid electronic re-presentment of business
checks.

A video
camera properly placed will deter the person who is attempting
to commit theft or forgery.

Picture IDs with every check is a must.

Utilize a check verification system.

Always obtain a matching physical home address, home phone and
alternate phone number. They should have something
on them whether it is drivers license or a phone bill that
matches their address.

Refuse to accept third party checks. You
don't have proof that the person cashing the check has permission
to do so.

Accepting Checks with Low Check Numbers,
under "300", is a no-no. If you know the person then use
your discretion.
